Thunderstorm, accompanied by rain likely to lash Delhi-NCR over next few hours
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday that parts of the national capital region (NCR) will witness thunderstorm, accompanied by light to moderate intensity rain, over the next two hours.
"Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain with wind 40-50 kmph would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater-Noida, during next 2 hours," said the MeT department.
The IMD's ( Regional Weather Forecasting Centre RWFC ) in New Delhi also predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain with wind speeds of 25-40 kmph over parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for the next two hours.
In Haryana, these parts include Barwala, Hansi, Siwani, Hissar, Adampur, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Kosli, Jhajjar, Kharkhoda, Medam, Charki-Dadri, Kurukshetra, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Karnal, Bhiwadi, Farukhnagar, Rajound, Gohana, Gannaur, Samalkha, Assandh, Panipat, Tohana, Narwana, Kaithal, Jind and Ratia.
Similar weather conditions have been predicted for Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Baghpat, Baraut, Khekra, Kairana and Shamli in Uttar Pradesh.
Senior officials of the IMD said on Friday that the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Delhi by June 15. Under usual circumstances, the southwest monsoon reaches Delhi-NCR by June 27 of every year.
According to the annual pattern, the monsoon reaches Delhi by June 27 and covers all of India by July 8.
"Under these favourable meteorological conditions, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance over the entire country outside south Rajasthan and Kutch region of Gujarat during the next five-six days," the IMD said in a statement on Friday.
