US, India commitment to democratic values is bedrock of our relationship, says Antony Blinken...
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is on a two-day visit to India, said on Wednesday that the two nations share a commitment to democratic values which is part of the bedrock of their relationship.
Antony Blinken held talks with representatives of civil society organisations in New Delhi today ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar.
Taking to Twitter, the senior US official wrote, "I was pleased to meet civil society leaders today. The US and India share a commitment to democratic values; this is part of the bedrock of our relationship and reflective of India's pluralistic society and history of harmony. Civil society helps advance these values."

"Special focus was on long-term measures to take the relationship to the next level. Views were also exchanged on contemporary and futuristic issues related to Regional and Global Security," they said.
The visit of the US Secretary is being followed up by the visit of US Special Forces Operations Command chief on Thursday.
